Are the classes appropriate for someone who’s never done anything like this before?

We hold classes everyday of the week, and on some days we offer more than one class.  See our schedule for details

How long are the classes?

1 hour, but we never look at the clock so don’t be surprised if we keep you a little longer.   We care about the training, not the time

Can I try a class first?

Absolutely!  But Krav Maga is not like any other training, so we prefer that you take an Intro lesson.   Come in, meet us, take a private intro, and try a class in just 90 Minutes or less.  We Guarantee that you’ll walk away feeling safer.  For more, check out our 90 Minute Trial Guarantee

What do I wear when I come for the first time?

Wear comfortable clothing, as if you were going to the gym or for a run.  If you have a clean pair of sneakers for the training mats, please bring them and change into them when you get there.  Help us keep the training mats as clean as possible.  If you don’t have sneakers that you can dedicate to training, don’t worry for now, we’ll manage.  Bring lots of water with you.  A dry t-shirt to change into after class is also a good idea and may make the drive home more comfortable

Do I need any gear?

If you have gloves or wraps, bring them, if not, don’t worry, you’ll learn how to use an open hand, or we can lend you gloves.  But ultimately, if you decide to train with us, you’ll need some gear to get the most out of your classes.  The gear that you’ll need is part of  your enrollment.

How much does Krav Maga cost?

Prices vary depending on the program and the location you chose, but plan on budgeting just over $100 a month for unlimited training.  Your first payment will be higher to cover your registration, equipment and first month

How are payments made?

The average student training uninterrupted will get through the Krav Maga Beginner & Novice curriculum in about 6 months.  If you’re going to learn Krav Maga, you’re going to want to at minimum learn the basic skills.  Learning less than the Beginner & Novice curriculum makes  little sense.  Your initial minimum enrollment therefore will be for a period of 9 months, which takes into account training downtime.  Payments are made on the 15th of every month by credit or debit card.  Monthly transactions are processed through Merchant Services, an A rated 3rd party service provider.  KMNY accepts all major credit and debit cards and is a registered merchant.  As such, we follows all security and privacy guidelines imposed by your lending institutions.

What happens after the initial 9 months?

After your initial term, the account automatically renews on a month to month basis, or you can elect to proceed to Intermediate level training.  Regardless, unlike many other places, your initial payment structure will never change for as long as you remain a member.  You can of course also elect not to continue.  If so, simply give us the courtesy of a 30 day notice.

Can I pay in cash?

You can make your first payment in cash or by check,  but all subsequent monthly payments are made through credit or debit card.

How do I enroll?

We rarely allow students to enroll outright.  We are going to want to make sure that you know exactly what you’re getting.  This will make life a lot easier for both of us long  term.  So, regardless of whether your interested in enrollment for yourself, your child, a friend, or a loved one, register for our 90 Minute Trial Guarantee.  It’s the best way to sample Krav Maga

Are there belts in Krav Maga?

Krav Maga is a belted system, yellow belt through black belt (and beyond if you want), but we don’t wear belts in class nor do we follow customs typically associated with traditional martial arts, like taking off our shoes and bowing,  The belt levels help differentiate the curriculum, and in turn that helps students understand the system progression. Unless you have experience with Krav Maga, you’ll starts at the Beginner & Novice levels.  If you have experience in other martila arts, you’re likely to move through the levels quickly

How do you advance levels?

KMNY holds promotions and progress checks every 3 months.  While the progress checks are held during regular class time, belt promotions are special events and scheduled separately.  Progress checks help the student stay understand the material, ask questions and receive feedback from the Instructors.   Once you’ve attended these, you can attend a belt promotion.  Although we encourage you to attend belt promotions, we won’t force you or issue an ‘official’ invitation – and you never pay any fees to be promoted.  We’ll make sure that the curriculum and the material you’ll be asked to demonstrate is clear.  Belt promotions bring the best out of everyone.  Your experience, we feel, is complete once you’ve attend promotion, but whether to attend promotion is ultimately your choice.  We will never force you.

Are you affiliated with any other Krav Maga location or association?

Yes, we are affiliated with and highly regarded by both Krav Maga Worldwide and Krav Maga Alliance.  But that’s not all, we’ve trained with an overwhelming number of Krav Maga Training Centers nationwide and overseas, and we leave a long lasting impression wherever we go

Can I attend class at both KMNY locations?

Yes, of course.  Once you’re a member you can attend class at any KMNY Training Tenter, and no, there is no additional fee to attend multiple locations
